Series of Public Consultations on Resilience & Security
Resilient Ukraine is holding a series of public discussions with the objective of raising awareness about resilience, its characteristics and components.
A public discussion entitled 'Measuring Resilience: Tools for Crisis Management and Security' was held in Kyiv on 29 July 2024. Sociologists, social psychologists, researchers, security experts, state officials and business representatives were invited to participate in the discussion.
In his remarks on the measurability of resilience, Dmitri Teperik, Director-General of Resilient Ukraine, underscored that measuring resilience is primarily about assessing risks and threats. This is crucial for comprehending the current situation not only by the state authorities, but also by all stakeholders.
On 29 August 2024, another public discussion was held in Kyiv on the topic of 'Security Culture in Times of War: How to Ensure the Resilience of Society and Institutions?'. The discussion focused on Ukraine’s experience of adapting to the conditions of a full-scale war, the lessons learned from cross-sectoral approach to strengthening resilience, and the prospects for enhancing security.
Aa a leading expert on societal resilience and civil security, Dmitri Teperik highlighted that security culture can be cultivated, learned and improved. One of the most important tools for resilience and security culture is the capacity to assess risks and expand thinking horizon to see possible threats. The Resilient Ukraine tool is based on multi-level scenarios that are practised during crisis simulation exercises in different communities at local and regional level.
